A Long Time Coming…. Summer Knitting!

Hi Everyone!

Hope you have been knitting up a frenzy!!  I’ve been super busy trying out all things new in the knitting/fibre world, while preparing for my move across the pond to London for my Masters in Voice Studies.

I am so excited to go over there and pick up knitting techniques and to share them with you, once I am back in Vancouver!  Although… perhaps I should just start blogging more, hm?  😛

I want to thank you so much for your patience while I have been on this crazy adventure.  I know the last time I posted was last summer (oh my goodness…)!

Some exciting things have happened since then…

1) I launched Knit4Charity, a local knitting social initiative to teach people how to knit a new stitch each week (and also teaching brand new knitters how to do the basics).  We are thinking of doing some outdoor summer knitting, as our current location gets quite warm in the summer.

2) We shipped out of 1st shipment of 50-something squares to Knit-A-Square Charity – the orphaned children of South Africa can look forward to squares that will make up almost one-and-a-half blankets to keep them warm in the colder months! ❤

3) I gained acceptance into my dream Master’s program for Voice Studies at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama – one of the most prestigious drama conservatoires in the world!!  Judi Dench, Laurence Olivier, Harold Pinter and Vanessa Redgrave are among some of the famous people who attended this school, too!!  PS. You might remember when I posted my pattern to the “Lilli Infinity” for my trip to NYC – that was my audition for the program.

4) I met this amazing man who has turned my world upside down and inside out since we begun our relationship in early December.  Little did we know, it was our 2nd serendipitous meeting without knowing each other!  (more on this later..)

5) I have been working hard on my HbyS Infinity Scarf EBOOK that will hopefully be available for purchase before July!  My assistant, Viviana, has been helping me knit up samples of these scarves. If you are interested in testing out some of my samples, please send me a note through my contact page!

6) Lastly, I dyed for my first 2 skeins of yarn… ever!  They were both silk dyed with Procion.  Delicious… no??

Be back soon.. too many projects on the go!

Happy Knitting!! xx. S.

Designing Up A Storm!

Hi Everyone,

Full on knitting season has finally kicked into gear, it seems!  Vancouver is pouring rain pretty much every day now – umbrella is with me 24/7, one of many knitting projects in my bag, a favourite hat to wear & I am good to go.

You may have noticed that I’ve been posting a lot of my new designs for chunky infinity scarves lately.  Reason being, I am designing lots of infinity scarves to create a trunk show that I can show at various local yarn stores in town! =)

I have been working a lot with Madelinetosh ASAP and Malabrigo Rasta – two of my most favourite chunky yarns.  The Madtosh is machine washable (even though I hand wash all my knits) & the Rasta is hand wash only.

Patterns are being written up and edited – the Fauna Cowl  and Fauna Infinity patterns will be available on my Ravelry this coming Tuesday!

Happy Knitting!

Spring Knitting Updates!

Hello all!

I’ve been super duper busy with life and what not in the past couple months – lots of exciting things. Life is such an amazing thing – when you are willing to open yourself to the greatness of what this world has to offer you, the possibilities are endless.  Bounds and bounds.

As for the knitting… this is a new design made with Madelinetosh ASAP:

MIA.. No More

Hello!

Yes, I’ve definitely been MIA for a while… my apologies.  I’ve been dancing and singing on stage as part of the chorus for Burnaby Lyric Opera’s production of “Le Nozze di Figaro” by W. A. Mozart!  It’s been my first time in an operatic performance & it’s so exhilarating!  I love the cast and chorus members I get to perform with.

Anyway.. the thing is… while I’ve been neglecting to post on here, I’ve also been busy designing and writing up patterns for you all to try out.  I just uploaded my first free pattern, Gartered Baby Bibs, on Ravelry!  You won’t miss it.  My little nephew, Elli, is the cover photo for my pattern! =)

Also available for sale in my HbyS Etsy Store are:

Stargaze Cowl v.1

Interchangeable Ribbed Toque (with a free handwarmer pattern included)
